Presho Fire Chief Dies From Medical Condition At Weekend Fire

A member of the Presho Volunteer Fire Department died while responding to a weekend fire.

Presho firefighters were responding to a working structure fire just before seven P-M in rural Lyman County Saturday evening. Crews were on scene around two hours when Presho Fire Chief, 54 year-old Donald “Donny” Manger experienced a medical condition. Manger exited a vehicle and collapsed. Fellow responders began C-P-R on Manger before he was transported to Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre, where he died.

The incident is under investigation by multiple agencies. Additional information may be released later. Fire departments across the state took to social media Sunday to express their thoughts, prayers and condolences to the Presho Fire Department and the community of Presho.
