The Sully Buttes Chargers rallied and rolled the Stanley County Lady Buffs Tuesday night at Parkview Gym in a volleyball match that ended in three sets.
The Chargers posted a 25-16, 25-9, 25-9 victory thanks in part to strong passing and aggressive offense. The Chargers were led in kills by Lauren Wittler who tallied 19, while Rachel Guthmiller added nine and Marinda Archer contributed six. The Chargers also kept up the pressure on serving, totaling nine aces with Kallie Murphy leading the way with four.
The Lady Buffs, had trouble sustaining any offensive rhythm, and were led in kills by Ally McQuistions’ four. Stanley County now drops to 7-10 on the year. The Lady Buffs donned pink jerseys and had fundraisers for research, and to help bring awareness to Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Next up for Sully Buttes is a home contest Thursday night against Mobridge Pollock. Next week the Chargers, now 16-5, will end the season with two matches, Tuesday at Selby taking on Region 2B top seed Herreid Selby Area, and Friday at home against Hitchcock Tulare, where the Chargers are urging everyone to wear pink and help by also holding fundraisers for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Chargers are responsible for one of the two losses on Herreid Selbys’ record, with a victory back at the end of August.
