South Dakota has taken the top spot nationally in the latest Gallup-Sharecare Well-Being Index.
Everyone’s favorite Dakota moved up two spots from the previous year. Vermont took the number two slot followed by Hawaii in at number three. West Virginia took the bottom post at number 50.
According to Gallup and Sharecare, a high score in purpose well-being propelled South Dakota to the top spot. South Dakota, Vermont and Hawaii have consistently ranked highly as well-being elite states since the inception of the Gallup-Sharecare Well-Being Index.
Things are not all sunshine and roses for the U.S. The report also found that 21 states saw declines in well-being in 2017.
